Who is a prosumer?

Fortune magazine calls the New Millennium the "Age of the Consumer." And for good reason. With the advent of on-line shopping and the expansion of huge discount chains, prices for goods and service continue to drop, "saving" consumers billions of dollars every year.
But are we really making a “saving” when we buying discount? Or are we helping the retailer or the business man rack huge profits.
Have you ever thought why retail giants and businesses provide discount sales? Do you feel it is to increase their profit or to help the customers? Will a businessman do anything to loose his profit share? When he puts up a sales or a discount, he intends to attract more customer to his store. When we enter the store we end up buying things that we actually didn’t intent to buy. End result is extra sales and higher sales turnover for the business.
Here I would like to introduce a new concept to you. Let’s start with the basics.
Now let’s look at this from a different perspective: Say you spend Rs. 60 on a product (consumable). What has happened is you have spent Rs.60 from your net worth to buy the consumable. Your ability to invest Rs. 60 has gone down. You may be thinking that I am crazy! How will we live without consuming or I don’t want to compromise on what I buy.
This is a consumer thought process and the truth is, the vast majority of consumers will never build financial security because they've been conditioned by advertising to buy products and services that lose value overtime. Consumer-thinking spends money, which leads to diminished assets and diminished dreams.
The huge stores that provide products at discounted prices are on the other hand producers of wealth. Producer thinking is about making money, making wealth.
The concept of pro-sumer is one which is gaining importance. The people with this concept produce wealth as they consume. Pr-osumer thinking is of buying smart rather than buying cheap. A pro-sumer earns money as he consumes.
If you can earn Rs. 20 back from every 100 you spend is it a gain. You can start saving better than the discount sale.
It's a simple concept that is revolutionizing the way people buy and work. When you change your way of thinking and buying habits from short-term consumer thinking to long-term pro-sumer thinking, you can change your life.
You will never have to discount your dreams!
